AI Runtime & Vector Engineer,
Our client is a global enterprise software provider, serving over 1,500 customers across financial services, government, media, and IT. They offer enterprise-grade PostgreSQL solutions, managed cloud services, and 24/7 support, enabling application modernization, database migration from legacy systems, and hybrid/multi-cloud deployments. Their platform unifies transactional, analytical, and AI workloads while ensuring security, compliance, and high availability, with built-in AI capabilities.
We are looking for an AI Runtime & Vector Engineer, who will help build EDB's agent infrastructure on Postgres — Agent Hub, Agent Memory, MCP, and vector/retrieval — turning Postgres into a first-class platform for AI agents.
Requirements
-
Python plus at least one of Rust, Go, or C/C++
-
Hands-on experience with an agent framework or pattern (LangChain, LangGraph, LlamaIndex, OpenAI Agents SDK, MCP, or equivalent) and a working mental model of tool use, retrieval, planning, and memory
-
SQL / database engineering experience; working familiarity with Postgres
-
Comfort with Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD in a remote-first, distributed team
-
Cloud experience (AWS or GCP), especially AI or database services
-
English level - Upper intermediate
Responsibilities
-
Maintain and enhance the agent management framework, using Postgres as a durable runtime for agents
-
Build internal agents and the vector/retrieval infrastructure supporting agent memory and tool use
-
Contribute to patterns customers will adopt to build their own agents
-
Help evolve evaluation frameworks for agent quality, memory recall, and end-to-end agentic workflows
-
Deploy and operate on AWS or GCP, particularly AI or database services
Will be a plus
-
Production memory systems for agents — episodic/semantic memory, conversation summarization, memory consolidation, or graph-based memory
-
Familiarity with MCP, tool registries, and agent orchestration patterns
-
Governance/observability experience for AI systems — policy enforcement, audit logging via OpenTelemetry, guardrails, supervisory/judge agents
-
Postgres extension development in C or Rust, or other Postgres ecosystem contributions
-
Background in information retrieval, knowledge graphs, or applied ML evaluation
What We Offer
-
Fully remote work
-
A professional, supportive, and friendly team.
-
Long-term employment with competitive compensation, based on experience.
-
Continuous knowledge sharing with engaged co-workers.
